Clinton Questions Obama’s Ability To Greet World Leaders | The Onion – America’s Finest News Source

CHARLESTON, WV—Hillary Clinton once again attacked Barack Obama on the issue of experience Tuesday, this time questioning the Illinois senator’s ability to effectively smile, make appropriate eye contact, and offer sufficiently delicious finger foods when welcoming visiting world leaders. “My opponent has never greeted foreign dignitaries such as the Japanese Minister of Forestry and Fisheries, as I had the opportunity to do when I was first lady,” Clinton said, adding that she has an extensive background in both double-clasped hand shakes and idle small talk with political luminaries from several nations. “Do the American people really want a president who doesn’t know when it’s appropriate to gesture toward a chair, indicating where a head of state should be seated?” At a previous speech in Indianapolis, Clinton had challenged Obama’s ability to create a health-care reform initiative that would ultimately fail and hand Congress over to the Republicans in an electoral landslide, as she did in 1993.

  1. I LOVE THIS BIG SHIP CALLED AMERICA / THE PROBLEM IS WHO’S AT THE HELM
    By scorpi2000 – May 17th, 2008 at 5:55 pm EDT

I love this big ship we all are sailing in.
    The big ship called America.
    Best ship in the World.
But those republican guys, who have been at the helm for the past 8 years, have steered us all in the wrong direction.
Half of the passengers saw the storm in front of us years ago, while the other half just blindly trusted their lead.
They kept telling everybody theres gold just beyond the horizon, dont worry trust us.
Everyone that tried to say somthing got labeled a traitor, and accused of hating the great ship America.
The other ships warned them not to go in this direction years ago too, they got told the same thing.
Weve lost over 4000 good men, and are runnig low on rashions.
Its going to take forever to get us back into calm waters.
I think its time to make them walk the plank, so we can turn this ship around, before we all go down.
Its time for liberals to take the helm.

  2. YOU HAVE TO BE TRUSTED AND RESPECTED TO NEGOTIATE PEACE

    By scorpi2000 – May 17th, 2008 at 1:53 am EDT

I dont see how anyone can come to the conclusion that
its a bad idea to try diplomacy.
Isnt that how Reagan got Russia to stand down after years of the cold war thing.
Hum, ended the war without firing a shot.
Can’t get any better than that.
    That by itself,should prove alot
The right person can make a big differece.
It doesnt matter if its Democratic or Republican its who’s doing the talking.

I can see why no one trusts or responds to the Bush distort the truth type of diplomacy.

BUSH AND HIS BUDDIES ARE NOT TRUSTED ENOUGH TO PULL OFF THIS TYPE OF DIPLOMACY.

THE WHOLE WORLD HAS BEEN WATCHING.

    OBAMA 08

SOMEONE OUR ENIMIES WOULD TRUST AND RESPECT IN A SERIOUS CONVERSATION ABOUT PEACE.

    THANKS

  3. That’s a good point. Ronald Reagan is a historical figure that I strongly dislike (and the idea that he “won the Cold War” is a Republican fairy tale), but his diplomacy with the Soviet Union produced rich results and helped hasten the fall of the Berlin Wall. You don’t hear Republicans calling Reagan an “appeaser”; in fact, in his day, Reagan had to shout down more conservative party members calling for him to be more hostile and aggressive to the Soviets. It’s a good thing he didn’t, because while Reagan didn’t win the Cold War, he also made sure it didn’t flare up into a full-scale conflict.
